Q. How arise the idea that to create HAUS subsidiary for Spain and Portugal?
A. The Iberian Peninsula is the largest producer of olive oil in the world. In Spain, there are currently more than 1,840 mills operating that grind the production of more than 2.75 million hectares. In Portugal, since the construction of the Alqueva reservoir, which provides irrigation to a large area of the Portuguese Alentejo, olive cultivation has multiplied to 375,000 hectares with almost 500 mills in production.
HAUS is a company with more than 65 years of experience, with great international presence and leader in markets such as Turkey, Tunisia or Syria. With subsidiaries in Istanbul, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, India, Tunisia and Malaysia for olive oil and other industrial applications, now is the ideal time to grow in the Iberian Peninsula and bet on an efficient and quality service to our customers.
Q. What does HAUS intend to contribute to the Iberian market?
A. Good question… The HAUS philosophy can be summed up in the words that accompany the brand, #BECAUSEWECARE. It's not a motto, it's the way of life that inspires all our work. We care about our customers, our employees, our suppliers and our environment. Our R&D department constantly works to provide personalized solutions to complex problems, always under Corporate Social Responsibility aimed at caring for people and the environment.
Our mission is to provide solutions to the needs of our clients, with a close and personalized attention and an agile & quality technical service.
Q. Is HAUS Iberia aimed at any specific type of client?
A. No. Our experience and the application of the latest centrifugation technologies in our machinery make us versatile in order to meet almost any type of demand. We have horizontal centrifuges that can operate in 2 or 3 phases, making them suitable for any type of product, including pomace, and our Dual Drive technology facilitates production adjustment in real time without the need to stop the grinding line. Our centrifuges are fully automatic with Clean in Clean in Place (CIP) technology that facilitates cleaning in-situ and the malaxers are equipped with independent temperature control systems in each of the blending vessels.
All of these technologies are connected to our control system, with an ergonomic touch panel and the possibility of remote monitoring, both by the operator, by the owner and even by our technical staff who can act on the production parameters to optimize the extraction processes.
We have continuous extraction lines for a very wide range of productions, from small "boutique" oil mills to obtain high quality extra virgin olive oil rich in polyphenols avoiding oxidation, heating or exposure to light of the product, to machinery for the extraction of pomace oil, going through the entire range of intermediate products.
Q. What are the steps that HAUS is taking in its implementation on the peninsula?
After the constitution of the company HAUS Iberia with its own staff and legal entity, we are working on a commercial network that covers Spain and Portugal, as well as a professional and close, fast and efficient technical service anywhere in the Iberian Peninsula.
After many years and once consolidated in its international growth, HAUS has decided to bet on establishing itself in the area with the highest production of olive oil in the world, with firm but sure steps and with the certainty that the contribution of our knowledge and experience to the sector will be beneficial to all parties in the very near future.
